FAQ

Q.  Why can’t I find a copy of The Last Hunt for a reasonable price?

A. I’m truly sorry about the situation with the last book of the Unicorn Chronicles. For reasons I have never understood, Scholastic chose not to release a paperback edition of the book. So when they let the hardcover go out of print, there were only about 17,000 copies of the book in the entire world… even though the first book had sold over 1,000,000 copies!

I’m still upset about that, and felt it was a great betrayal of my readers.

Q.  Well, what are you going to do about it?

A.  Happily, and to Scholastic’s credit, I have regained the rights to the books. I am working on bringing them back in print myself.

Q.  What happened to Dark Whispers, and why is it now two books with new titles?!

A.  Because the size of the books expanded so radically as I went on (the last book was about four times as long as the first book!), the designer I am working with suggested that we split up the third and fourth books to make a seven part series that is more evenly divided.

The first half of what used to be Dark Whispers is now available as Enter the Whisperer.

The second half is called The Secret of the Delvers, and there is an important change here. When I split the book, it became clear that Lightfoot had pretty much disappeared from the second half of the story.  So, I wrote five brand new chapters to explain what he had been doing during that period of time.
